StJohnsAmbulance

St. John Ambulance First Aid, Occupational First Aid and CPR courses have been designed to meet standards of many different governing organizations.  Specific courses meet National, Provincial, and WCB British Columbia standards.

If there are not enough participants signed up, the course will be either cancelled or postponed.  We don't want to cancel good courses, but good courses with super instructors are cancelled if everyone waits until the last minute to register.  So please register early!

St. John Ambulance is not offering any further courses in Vancouver for 2006. The 2007 Emergency Preparedness Course Guide will be posted here and on their website by January 2007.

Vector

VECTOR is the acronym chosen for the City of Vancouver’s Amateur Radio program. VECTOR is somewhat unique in that it is not an Amateur Radio club but a community service organization that includes both licensed Amateur Radio operators and other communications volunteers involved in the city emergency program. VECTOR stands for Vancouver Emergency Community Telecommunications ORganization. The timing of the creation of this group coincided with the opening of the Vancouver Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in June 1999.  VECTOR has a fully equipped 8-position Amateur Radio room within this facility.

Vector meets monthly at E-Comm and weekly by "Net". VECTOR hosts a weekly emergency preparedness 'Net' on Wednesday evenings at 2000 hours, except for the last Wednesday of the month, which is BCFMCA Net night. The Net takes place on the BCFMCA VE7RPT repeater at 146.940(-) MHz. Please check-in. The Net Script is on-line for the Net Control Operator.

Fire and Rescue Services

The purpose of Emergency Response Team Training is to provide your employees with the basic skills that they will need to respond to their workplace's, family's and community's immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, when traditional emergency services may not be available.

By working together as a team, almost anyone can assist in saving lives using the basic techniques taught in this hands-on training!

Students will receive Saint John's Ambulance Standard First Aid and C.P.R. Level A certifications. They will also learn to correctly use fire extinguishers, conduct triage (prioritize treatment) under simulated disaster conditions, participate in a realistic simulation of an office collapse and apply basic search and rescue strategies, resources, and safety measures to victim extrication.

There is currently no Team Training's scheduled. Check out the Fire and Rescue Services website do upcoming training dates
